Hi Netzman,
Its a project about an expensive hobby, but what hobby isn't? Most of the people into this are already into simulators (flight/racing) with really expensive computers. Adding motion to the simulation is just the cherry on the cake
See here another happy simmer:
http://6dofabi.blogspot.co.uk/2014/07/and-testing-after-tuning.html
These days I'm experimenting with real servomotors (not the big AC motors) that are simply amazing. See a piece of the testing I did after coding the interface:

Anyway, I hope your LCD project became more versatile and faster. I remember I had trouble using it along some interrupts. I think I may have to use it later for the UI designer, as currently I have to create the entries manually on my LCD menu.

Hi,
I think, there are things less worth to spend the money at
The motor looks quite powerful, is it running on DC? I can't see any power electronics in your video
Could you describe how your menu structure differs to make it work with the update rate?
In my code, the main display routine contains a bunch of Lcd commands, they take some time, but the Lcd only gets updated when something has changed.
The menu itself also doesn't use interrupts (however in the samples the timer library is used to update displayed values regularely, but you can implement this timing behaviour yourself. there was a bug in the library, a used register has not been saved in the isr, maybe this was causing your problems?).
Maybe the way you solved the problem points me to the right direction, but at the moment I can't see much potential to speed it up while keeping it versatile...
Best regards,

Hi Matthias,
I actually use that servomotor for my DIY FFB steering wheel:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phHcsRGeF5U
Its BLDC integrated servomotor that runs on 75volts (has the power drive and position controller inside the motor). The power supply for it is on the floor, weights 6kg!!!
https://www.dropbox.com/s/hznc6h799gaf714/IMG_20140903_072007_791.jpg?dl=0
I don't really have much time to describe the menu structure exactly, but I can say I use flags to indicate when the LCD needs to be updated, and counters to slow down the automatic refresh of the display depending on the load of the processor. The menu is actually not central structured, and half of it resides in an interrupt routine that activates when I use the quadrature encoder...
I hope I can strip down an example code part for you, if I get some free time.
Thanks
