Hello all,

I had to replace my notebook over the weekend and am now trying to get Bascom installed and working on my new machine.

I downloaded the full install from the MCS Site after logging on, along with the license file.

I copied the bscavrL.DLL file to the unzipped folder.
I placed the license file inside the folder c:\program files(x86)\MCS ELectronics\Bascom-AVR

I tried to run Bascom - said it cannot find the bscavrL.DLL file.
Copied/pasted the file again into the folder, over writing the existing (it was there) and re-booted.

Still no go.

I unzipped my copy of the update wizard. It updated itself but says that I need to register (please register first).

Can anyone tell me what I did wrong and how to correct?

Thank you
Tim

The correct way is to download setup from the register (do not use a demo since it is different).
Then unzip he downloaded file so you have a setup.exe
Then put the bscavrL.dll file at the same location as the unzipped setup.exe
Then run setup with admin rights.
Setup will copy the dll to the proper folder.

Do NOT run setup from within the zip file because then the dll file can not be copied by setup.

Since the soft is complaining about the missing license dll, i assume it does not have the proper name. so go to the bascom application folder, then make a command prompt and type :
dir bscavrL.DLL
this should list the file. of course this must be the actual license dll, another file will not work.

The help contains 'Move to new PC'.

I installed Bascom 2.0.4.0 a couple of months ago on my new work Win7 x64 laptop with no problems, and have since updated it to 2.0.5.0. I think I did exactly the same as you have, so can't see why it's not working for you.

BascomAVR 2.0.8.5

Thanks guys - I missed the "L" in the dll license file.

Is starting to work now!
