I use AvrStudio4 from Atmel and the AVRISPmkll programmer from Atmel. It has USB, cable comes with the programmer and the latest firmware updates with AVRStudio4. It also comes with a 6-pin ISP ribbon cable with plug. No extra power supply needed...only for target.
In the USA it cost approx. $39. AVRStudio4 can be downloaded from Atmel with registration at no cost to you.
You can check on Atmel's website and STudio4 for compatibility with different AVR's. I think it is ideal for laptops.
Have fun

Google Wrobot USBtinyASP, there are two versions Standard and Pro, both works with the latest version of BASCOM-AVR, you need to install the drivers for the USBASP from http://www.fischl.de/usbasp/ |

|
|
In the Gerätemanger of my new PC, Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits with i7-960 CPU the USB-ISP Programmer is listed, but missing the driver.
I did download the USB-ISP driver from the mcselc site, but whentrying to have the sriver installed out of the "Gerätemanager" it says no driver found. Sorry for being so foolish on windows issues, but how do i get the driver installed? _________________ ---------------

-Go to device manager.
-Look up USB-ISP
- select properties
- select update driver
- point to the unzipped usb-isp package you downloaded
that should fix it. _________________ Mark |
