Hi,
I need to convert a Word document to PDF format. Adobe Acrobat is expensive. I did a search and found a lot of sites that will convert the file for free, but I am afraid of getting a virus.
Does anyone know of a reputable source for an inexpensive way of converting to PDF format?
If not, I can always buy Acrobat and not eat for a while!
I use PDFCreator, which installs as a special virtual printer, so you can "print" from any application and produce a good quality PDF. You have control over image resolution/compression etc and can apply security to prevent people extracting content. Note that document/web links are not converted (because it's just a "printer"), so they are not clickable in the PDF.
I also use OpenOffice, which can produce PDF output from any supported document complete with links and bookmarks (both internal to the document, like table-of-contents, and to the web/email).
Both are free to download and use. _________________ If all else fails, read the manual. Even better: read the manual before something fails. If you can't find it in the manual, search the forum.
