|
|
Hello Everyone,
I am trying to send code to a Mega8535. But when I send to chip I get two windows. The first says "Could not identify chip with ID:FFFFFF". The second says "Selected chip and target chip do not match AT90S1200 <> ATmega8353". I know I am probably missing something but I don't know what it is. I went to Menu Options, Compiler, Chip and that is set to M8535.dat. I looked to see if there was anywhere else that I could change the chip and I didn't find anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Dennis L. |

That message basically means that your programmer cannot talk to the chip for some reason. The second message is a reaction to the first - if the programmer can't talk to the chip then it doesn't know what kind of chip it is!
Check that you have the right programmer selected, the connections are correct and you have power on the chip/board.
If you have another chip I would try that first. Sometimes you can lock yourself out of programming a chip because you have selected the wrong clock type/source in the lock bits, trying another chip will quickly tell you if your set up is correct or not. |

Thank you Jenalcom,
I had to add a parallel port card to my PC. I found that the port is not working. So now I'm in search for of a USB programmer that will work with Win XP x64. Thanks again for the info.

Is the port not working at all or just for Bascom? It may not be your parallel card that is not working but Win XP.
There are lots of posts around from people using Win XP that had to run a special programme to allow Bascom to access the parallel port. Perhaps some one else will jump in here (Luciano??) and let you know what to do (I only run Win 98 here!!!)
Sorry I can't help you more. |

I have 2 vista machines. One with ultimate, one with business. Both with parallel ports.
On one machine, I had to install a printer driver for an parallel laser printer I have and print something to it BEFORE sending something to the programmer otherwise it would not work. I would get the same error as you. I don't even have the printer hooked up to the parallel port, I would just wait for it to time out and then the programmer would work until I rebooted the pc.
On the other machine it works 1st time every time. Needless to say, the 2nd machine (the one running Vista Business 32) is the machine I do my programming on now.
No matter what I tried on the 1st machine I could not get it to work without 1st "printing" something.
You may try that.
YMMV,
