|

Hi all,
it's prob been asked a million times + but the seach feature in this forum does not seem to work to well for me but any way.
Q) is there a way to reinstall bascom without losing your settings i.e. fonts etc you have setup.
The reason for the reinstall is I have lots of strange things happening, things work perfect in the simulator one minute then the next the lcd is screwing up with random characters etc, what works in the simulator will not work in real life etc etc.
I program & compiled the other week worked well but now it will compile and program but will not work.
The system has not changed i.e. no new stuff & nothing removed, AV is up to date with regular scans etc.
Regards & Thanks for any assistance |

Hi,
Just do a print screen of each TAB.
Open the TAB, press CTRL+ALT+PrtSc (this will copy just the form with
the TAB) and then paste the picture of the TAB in Word.
After install, just open or print your document with the pictures and set
the values of the TABs.
Best regards,

I don't think that it has something to do with reinstalling Bascom.
Could be a hardware or software error.
Do you have set the stack large enough?
What version of Bascom are you using? the current one is 1.11.93 for registered users. _________________ www.evertdekker.com Bascom code vault |

First up Thanks for the replies always appreciated.
Evert., The stacks & frame set to 128, & registered 1.11.9.3.
update:
I have reinstalled and the problem has seemed to solve its self, the code did work last week? so there is no reason why it should not have this week, the simulator went stupid with strange characters etc, I have also experienced a similar thing with Bascom-8051 a couple years ago(full version), again no-idea, but an upgrade of the then bascom-8051 solved that as well. There is nothing unusual about this PC just a std box with the usual bits hanging of it, its WinXP & Spk2 as I had to roll back the Spk3 due to a dat tape problem which happens with Spk3 so I don't Know.
It would be nice if there was just a file similar to the 'program' file that holds the programmers info so you could just back it up when you needed to transferr from PC to PC or in the event of a failure.
Phehaps one for the future??
Anyway thanks for the response.

Hi,
The name of the file is bascom-avr.xml.
See this thread:
http://www.mcselec.com/index2.php?option=com_forum&Itemid=59&page=viewtopic&t=7153
If you copy this file you will also inheritate the problems.
My advice is not to reuse the file bascom-avr.xml and just manually enter
the settings, and the Bascom AVR IDE will create a new bascom-avr.xml
when you close the IDE.
Before you uninstall the IDE you can try to delete the file bascom-avr.xml
and let the IDE create a new XML file.
Best regards,
