Hi,
From the Bascom 1.11.9.3 help file under the topic "Elektor / AVR ISP mkII":
Installing LIBUSB is at your own risk. Make a backup before you do so!
* * *
Update to Bascom 1.11.9.3:
When you run the Update Wizard, at the end of the Bascom update, the
setup of LIBUSB is automatically started by the Bascom Update Wizard.
Just press CANCEL to abort the installation of this USB driver.
(No need to install this driver if you don't use this USB programmer).
If you really need this USB driver for your USB programmer then you can start
again the setup of this driver by double-clicking the file setuplibusb.exe located
in your Bascom program folder.
Best regards,
Luciano

EDIT:
The Atmel Flip uses the libUsb driver since its release 3.1.0.

Has anyone found a driver to install the usb-prog programmer that you can buy on the website to install it on vista 64 bit?
Now i need to run a virtual xp to use the programmer.
Bascom works fine but not the programmer.

*** LIBUSB *** will trash your Vista setup. I know because it happened to me. Everything appeared OK until I tried to shutdown, then the fun began.
Thank FSM (flying spaghetti monster) for system restore. |

Hi,
Yes, but this was via the Atmel command line tool stk500.exe + a batch file.
Now in Bascom 1.11.9.3 there is a new driver "STK500 native driver" and
a new GUI for the STK500 programmer.
Best regards,
Luciano |

I had problems with libusb too on my XP x64
Got Code 39 on some drivers and couldnt reinstall them.
Problem fixed by searching for "UpperFilter" in the registry and remove everything that had libusb0 in them.
I got the problem when i uninstalled libusb

Hi,
Vista 64-bit is not supported by the LibUSB driver. (Cannot be installed).
With XP 64-bit you should have the same problem.
Best regads,

: cry:I also have had a problem with Vista 32 bits after installing bascom 11-9-3 update : it was impossible to shutdown if I was connected to the usb hub I normally use for my mouse, keyboard and printer.
When you run the update, you have no warning message about libusb.
I have lost a lot of time to find out that it was due to libusb installation. Finally I saw on the web that libusb has compatibility problems, and it was confirmed by this forum. I solved my problem by disinstalling it and suppressing all libusb lines in the register base.
I must say that I got no useful help from mcselec, and I am a little disappointed about this. There are probably other people who could not stop their computer after installing the update, and until they don't find by themselves that this is due to libusb, they won't solve it.
I hope that this message will help them. |

Hello sidena,
thank you for the hint with the Vista shutdown problem and USB lib. I do have the same problem (Vista not shutting down anymore) and had no idea about what was causing the problem. I assumend I would have to install Vista new during Xmas.
Your posting now may prevent this. However i need one more hint: how can I deinstall USB lib?
Thanks
Peter |
