On the ATmega640/1280/1281/2560/2561 the Ports A, B, C, D, E, F and G are in the address space, where the ASM instrctions IN, OUT (00-3F) and SBI, CBI (00-1F) can be used normally. Check page 418 of the Datasheet from ATMEL. This should not be the problem. _________________ regards Josef

Hi, the internal port circuit is the same with all models ? Maybe that the new chips can't source the same current that old atmega128. Or maybe that have a different output voltage non fully compatible with HDD. I don't know, It is a strange issue if the code is the same there are no reasons.
