======================================================
Version: DEMO

BASCOM-AVR IDE Version : 1.11.7.7
Compiler: Version 1.11.7.7
Serial : Serial DEMO

======================================================
Error:

Message box "File not found!"
======================================================
When:

After "Syntax Check" or after "Compile current file".
======================================================
Cause of the problem on my PC:

I have the DEMO version 1.11.7.7 and the DEMO version
1.11.7.4 on the same PC and I have been using again
version 1.11.7.4 after using 1.11.7.7.

The version 1.11.7.7 is installed in the default path
defined by the setup program.
C:\Program Files\MCS Electronic\BASCOM-AVR\

The version 1.11.7.4 is now under:
C:\bascom\1_11_7_4\BASCOM-AVR-DEMO\

Before installing 1.11.7.7 I made a copy of all
1.11.7.4 files and directories under
C:\bascom\1_11_7_4\BASCOM-AVR-DEMO\.
Afer that, 1.11.7.4 was uninstalled from the default setup
directory, the PC rebooted and the setup of 1.11.7.7 was
successfully completed.
======================================================
Workaround solution on my PC:

WARNING:
Be aware that Bascom-AVR DEMO will go back to
the default configuration and you will lose your
personalized configuration.Be extremely careful
when updating the Windows Registry!
Tesed only with the DEMO version of Bascom-AVR.

Step 1.
Close the program Bascom-AVR.

Step 2.
Go to the Windows directory and delete the
file basavr.ini if present.
(C:\WINNT\basavr.ini).

Step 3.
Delete the registry key "basavr.ini"
(HKEY_CURRENT_USER\basavr.ini).

Step 4.
Delete the registry key "MCS Electronics"
(HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MCS Electronics).

======================================================

The next time you run Bascom-AVR 1.11.7.7, the registry keys
will be automatically created. (When you close the program).

When you simulate the AVR program with the simulator, Bascom
will create the file basavr.ini in the Windows directory.
(When you close the program).

You might have the same problem again with 1.11.7.7 if you
run 1.11.7.4 again. Currently on my PC I don't see the problem
anymore when I switch from 1.11.7.7 to 1.11.7.4 and back to 1.11.7.7.
I don't understand completely what was wrong.
I don't know if I cause problems to the program when I switch
from one version to the other.
To be sure now I delete the registry keys and the INI file every
time I switch version. (1.11.7.7 is OK so I do that rarely).

This Workaround fixed the problem on my PC.

I am only an hobby user of Bascom-AVR, I use it now and
then for my own personal use.

I saw that other people were having the same problem on:

Best regards,

Luciano

Hi!

As I said in my previous post I did not
understand completely what was wrong.

On my PC the message box "File not found!" is back!
(BASCOM AVR DEMO version 1.11.7.7).

With a file system activity monitor I can see that bascavr.exe
looks for the BIN file at the end of the "Syntax Check".
(Just after updating the header of the OBJ file).
Normally the BIN file is created OR updated only when you
press the button "Compile current file", so it can't be there
after the FIRST "Syntax Check" of a new BAS file.

But why do we get the same error "File not found!" when we
press the button "Compile current file"?
We get the same error because when we press the button
"Compile current file" Bascom does first a "Syntax Check".

Workaround:

Put an empty BIN file where your BAS file is stored.
(Use notepad.exe to create the empty file).
Once the BIN file is there, then you are fine also for
the following "Syntax Check" and "Compile current file".

Example:

If your BAS file is named LED_123.BAS, then just put in
the same directory an empty file named LED_123.BIN.

This is a bug of the Demo version 1.11.7.7.
The Demo version 1.11.7.4 works OK.

How to reproduce the problem with the Demo 1.11.7.7:

Create a new BAS file and try to do a "Syntax Check" or
a "Compile current file".

Best regards,

Luciano
