I am using an op-amp TLC272CP for project. It drives the gate of an IRF510.

I have a seperate powersupply with cat5 cable supplying the units in a dasy chain (up to 10 units)

So far I am testing with a breadboard and one unit. The wires I am testing with are just 24guage copper wires (ground, power, and a dataline)

The circuit works fine up untill I walk around the carpet and then touch the device. The breadboard is taped to the prorotype device made of aluminum and acrylic.

So I am not sure what is latching up the op amp or fet, and I am looking for suggestions to try and nail it down. We will get prorotype boards and solder them up to eliminate some of it but I just think these op-amps are way too easily spiked. I can't even feel a spark when I touch it but it still smokes the opamp.

Anyone have any suggestions on better ESD protected OP-AMPS or ESD protection circuit additions, design, grounding etc..?
