Dear BASCOM user
Recently bascom-8501 was updated. And now as promised a new release for BasCom-AVR.
This release brings support to the DB series of processors.
As usual some bugs fixed. Hopefully no new ones introduced. And new features.
I advise to read the history.
After the xtiny add on is updated i will also post a simple getting started article.
happy holidays!

I have a computer with a 3480x2160 monitor. The menu image is not proportional.
How can I fix this? The text describing the menu is very small. |

I'm running 3x27" 4K monitors and I don't experience such issue.
Check your windows scaling in the display settings. |

My settings is like on the picture.
All new other programs work OK.
When I change scaling f.e. 100%, all fonts become very very small. |

Weird, I have never seen 300% as recommended windows scaling usually, it is 150%
But there is one more place you can change it.
When you right-click on the Bascom AVR icon in the properties , it is called High DPI scaling override. |

in 2083 it did not work right since there was no scaling at all. in 2084 scaling is applied but the menus were wrong. so with a customer it was tested and this lead to the override custom settings. notice that you need to restart bascom after you change these settings. only the icons change at once.
I tested with different DPI but i do not have a high resolution monitor. but also no high resolution graphic card. in fact this leads to getting a new pc.
so it is almost impossible to test it myself.
i have no idea why you did not report it with 2084 but i advise to contact support in the new year. _________________ Mark |

I did.
https://www.mcselec.com/index2.php?option=com_forum&Itemid=59&page=viewtopic&t=14815
This was the reason I did not use this version of 2084.
Maybe there is something wrong with the graphics driver because the situation is the same with all DPI resolutions. The text of the menu is much larger than all the others. |

ok, i repeat this one more time : this is a user forum. This is NOT the official support forum.
Random i read it myself, and i can also respond. But the only official support is from support where a special system is used to determine :
- customer status (SLA) for quick response
- customer has a valid license and how old it is
- number of tickets created
- contributing user or not
- etc.
But most important : here the tickets are stored in order and while it can take a long time or not, it is always checked at some time.
Only tickets without serial are ignored. (often from a user with a cracked version)
In the support system we can provide a link to a test version.
But the forum has no way of keeping track of things. so that is why you can find info on the forum that it is not the official MCS support system.
ok, i am going to enjoy boxing day today. have a good one all.

Hello,
Do you have "multiple instances" working?
I have windows 10 and since version 2084 it doesn't work for me.
I have "Allow multiple instances" checked in the settings.
The last version in which it worked for me was 2083. |

@Mark Alberts
thank you for great work and the AVR128db-verssion that I am really interested in.
Ordered some from the USA (Di....), but JP mentioned an european website that charges a third in postage and handling.
Ordered AVR128DB28 DIP for testing in a multi MPU environment. If it is successful I will implement AVR128DB64 for printed circuit boards.
The extra frequency is a plus for the chip's use. The advantage: right now I have an Xmega as a main processor with six slaves, but the interface between the voltage levels takes up a lot of the board space.
I am really glad that this is available now.
Thank you again
and a very healthy and successful Year 2022 and thereafter.
Best regards
Hubert |
