Hello there it has been a while since I have been on the forum here. But I did notice a post about version 2083, and I would like to know
Where I can purchase this from?
I also noticed a forum for SLA, What is that for?

Everything can be purchased from the on line shop at mcselec.com or from a authorized reseller.
Do not buy from ebay. These are usual banned/illegal versions. We have zero tolerance. Illegal copies result in a ban and IP ban.
When you have a valid license you can also update without purchase : see the (on line) help topics update and Move to new PC.
The update wiz is no longer supported. Thus all updates work with the full setup.
While the update is free, there is limit : you need to have registered the software within 2 years after purchase. Within 2 years we replace lost license , recover account details etc. But after that time we dont. At least not for free anymore. So that is why it is important to keep your account up to date with a working email.
The SLA section is for SLA users. It is used to discuss new features or bugs from beta versions. It is named SLA since only SLA users have access.
SLA means service level agreement. It is a service we used to offer. But as it was used by few customers/companies it was not economical to have a helpdesk 24 hours active.
Companies that have a SLA can renew until they do not extend the service.
Since the SLA was also used to give access to patches, fixes and beta versions, this is now mainly used for beta versions. _________________ Mark |

I have tried to update my version to the latest version, but it just stops responding in windows 10.
And I do have a valid license for that version, that I'm using now

Hello there,
I did contact support and I now have the newest version out.
But it does not run on my laptop on windows 10.
So I'm going to try to install with wine under Ubuntu Linux and see if that works out.

it runs on win10 and also on wine.
- install with (local) admin rights
- run with admin rights the first time
- reboot
- run as a normal user
when there is an error, just report it.
some times a virus scanner will give problems the first time since it will check before it allows the program to continue. and then it just fails. but after the anti virus has checked it will not do that again and it will run as it should. _________________ Mark |

There is a problem if the computer has a domain account, but this is a problem for all programs that want to install to the root directory.
You must either change the end location to the account or install using a powershell with allocated privileges.
Hard to advise when you can't see what it's doing.

I run Bascom under Win 10 on my desktop PC, and on my laptop PC, without any installation problems.
(The only problem I've encountered, and never finished tracking down, was trying to get my AVR ISP mkII programmer to work from within Bascom.
There is info on how to configure the Window's drivers, etc., for that, but I just use a different program to download the hex file.)
