Dear All,
again I am fighting for some hours to get the MCS bootloader running.
This time it is an AVRMega 168.

It looks that the bootloader is installed properly.
When trying to load the application with the MS bootloader the response value is =0.
Here the screenshot with the parameters when flashing the bootloader:

I am using a crystal 6.144MHz connected with the typical 2 capacitors. Did I select the correct setting?
Is there anything wrong with the settings ?
As far as I can see in the Flash window the bootloader is the address area 3800 - 3E3D.
The message from the programmer also shows that the 16k are written to the device. Verifying result is o.k.
Reading the fuse bits show that the values are as sent.
Baudrate of the bootloader is set to 19200. This is the same as I want to use it in the application.
Setting of the COM-Port is correct (19200/8/None/stop:1/Flow.None)
When connecting via RS232 and unsing the bootloader I get no response.
Reset is executed by pushing a small button.
Please be so kind to let me have your advice.

best regards
Christian

In your code the crystal is factor 10 to high. 61Mhz instead of 6.1Mhz.

Thanks a lot.
I have not seen the forest because of the trees.
As soon as I make it correctly it works.

Now I get the response 123 from the loader.
Still it does not work. But now I get error code 6006.
I keep trying.

BR

If you can post your full code it's easier to help you to see if and where the problem is.

Dear Evert,
I got some good advise from EDC.
So far I used the bootloader. Now I have got some deeper knowledge with the herp of EDC.
The settings for the maxwordbit were wrong.
Thx
Christian
