There is an issue in the software I2C. Many devices ignore it, but others don't.

I think the problem is the pulse in SCL before start. The hardware-I2C doesn't have it.
I tried with an MCP23017 and MCCOG21605B6W.
The MCP ignores the pulse, the MCC doesn't answer on it.

you best post some code.
for example, did you use the I2CINIT ?

there is an alternative i2c driver named i2cv2.lib
include it with the $lib directive.
