Why does the IDE display an open file like this?

I regularly get the display as shown in the attached graphic. Sometimes selecting a different open file (tab) fixes the display and sometimes it doesn't.

(FWIW, all declared variables are used in the code)

(BASCOM-AVR version : 2.0.8.2 )

I had similar problems with the IDE formatting a while ago. Changing to Consolas font, as recommended by Mark, seems to have fixed it. Dont know if that problem still exists.

Thanks, that does seem to work but I hate that font...... Very Happy

(much prefer Arial)

Edit. I see Mark also suggested using monofont in Options. I checked it and Arial seems to be good with it.

An update: The problem has returned, despite having Use Monofont checked and Consolas selected as font

I should point out that 2.0.8.1 (and earlier) doesn't do this, only 2.0.8.2

this is not instagram where you can upload some pictures. the idea is that you upload code, code that we can check/test. And reduced to a minimum but still demo the problem. the pictures are great as an addition.
it is not clear if you use project mode or normal mode. if you know about the feature 'show dead code' or not. and what your settings are.

screen shots can be of great help but not on their own.

A : ok that explains it. there is no relation so the IDE will look at these files on their own. each file is seen as its own project.
B : the Edit menu has this option. you could also look in the help 'what is new' to find such info.

2081 already had this option. you now use different settings probably. so that is why you now see this. but the main cause is that you use this in unrelated modules.

I did look for "Dead Code" in the Help but it doesn't reference where the setting is to be found
