https://libusb.info/ provided me with confusing types of libusb.
And they presented for Windows a 7zip that requires another special program, see https://www.7-zip.org/
I managed to open the libusb package but it was not clear at all how/what to install.
I found an easier way: Zadig !

First make MKII work in Atmel studio 7.
Download Zadig ("USB driver installation made easy") from https://zadig.akeo.ie/
You do not have to install it, just run the .exe

It will show a list of available USBdevices. I unplugged everything, except the AVRISP mkII.
It shows at first WinUSB (v4. ???_I_forgot_the_details) and suggests to install WinUSB (v6.1.7600.16385), but that was not the right one for me.
I selected libusb-win32 (v1.2.6.0) and installed as libusb0 (v1.2.6.0), and that works.

[As Zadig at first showed WinUSB (v4. ???...) I am not sure if I broke something, I cannot go back to it. Atmel Studio still looks happy...]

I did not yet upgrade to 2.0.8.2, but I expect that it requires the same libusb.

(BASCOM-AVR version : 2.0.8.1 , Latest : 2.0.8.2 )

The link shown in the BASCOM-AVR help still works and downloads an executable installer with a comfortable filter driver installer.

The link you post is indeed confusing for lot of users.

The zadig installer can be used too.

As for any USB installer : the device must first work with its original driver, in this case a driver from atmel/microchip bundled with AVR Studio.
