There are only 2 reliable ways to place solder paste on a PCB:
1. stencil. The aluminum plate has holes in the right places. Solder paste is placed on the plate and spreads over the entire surface. Through these holes, the paste gets onto the pcb.
Laser cutting of metals is now widespread, as the cost of this service has fallen.
2. syringe with paste. The paste is squeezed onto the board manually or using a machine. It is long and rarely used, since aluminum stencils do everything and the price is low. The accuracy of applying paste through a stencil is much higher!
yes i use stencils too. they are indeed cheap and quick. but i also have seen printers that apply solder.
the only problem with stencil is that you need some vacuum to hold pcb and stencil tight.
the right paste is also very important. most work is placing the pasts so a good solution with universal parts would be great.
When i started long time ago with hobby i used dump parts which are cheap. but once they are out of stock you are stuck. So i like the fact that you will use standard parts for the next generation _________________ Mark

I also tried to make the device based on old components from matrix printers and furniture components, about 10-12 years ago
But it was rubbish ... Then I did not have enough knowledge of electronics and programming. Later, I took it apart and threw away almost everything

I bought a simple 3D printer to make a component installer based on it. But analysis shows that a regular 3D printer is inconvenient, since the working field is very small: no more than 350 * 350 mm. But we need more than 400-500 mm, since we need more space to place the components.
Therefore, you still need to independently create a large working field for this component installer.
