|
|
I have noticed with the latest version of the IDE, there is an ugly gray bar on the left side that I cannot figure out how to fix, or get rid of. its actually tripping out my OCD rather fierce.
Any ideas?
(BASCOM-AVR version : 2.0.8.1 ) |

yes it trips the same as posting in the wrong topic
I have no clue where it comes from. try reset docking in options, environment, IDE
Maybe the old configuration combined with this new version caused it. i never noticed it. But maybe you updated from an older version which i never do/try.
Of course you can always start over with a new settings file. Help about, click XML data folder and exit. Then rename the bascom-avr.xml file and run again. Downside is that you must make all settings. On the other hand you do not seem to use much settings. _________________ Mark |

Yea, I saw that by hitting reply instead of new topic. I am braindead today for some reason. haha. I didnt have a delete post option, so I edited it instead apologizing.
Also I forgot to mention, I am using VirtualBox to Run Windows 7 in my Linux Mint machine. (newer machine, cant run 7, I hate 10).
I attached my XML for bug chasing purposes |

Resetting the IDE environment fixed it, but at least the XML is there to maybe expose what caused it?

maybe the gray bar took its toll
i still develop on win 7 using VM of WIN10.
But now after some time i must admit i like win10 too.
what i do not like is all the telemetry functionality that they put into the OS. But that is in win 7 too.
What i do know is that 32 bit will vanish in some years and for this reason i started porting to 64 bit which goes better than expected.
I never heard of a machine that could not run win 7 ? but then again it was some time ago i assembled a new pc. _________________ Mark |

Spoke too soon. When I closed it, and re-opened it by launching a bas file as I normally do, its back....
I cant stand windows 10 because of its background services forcing apps to be installed in the background without your permission. they "push" crap all the time to my PC and even with policies set they still do it. If I wanted Candy Crush and wanted to keep it, I would install it myself. I dont need it shoved down my throat every time I turn around. |

in that case, more drastic : exit bascom, then remove the xml setting file.
If it comes back, it might be something with VM. Last time i checked with wine i did not notice any problem.
indeed i do not want stuff installed without my permission. but i never noticed CC or other stuff. maybe i did not looked for it. but normally i remove all services that are not needed. _________________ Mark |

Unless you get ugly with windows, powershell, etc. alot of stuff you cant remove including services. youll get blocked with Access Denied errors, or integral part of windows errors. I hate it. As a power user it drives me crazy. |

Deleted the XML, App acted like it was first-installed again which I expected.
But its showing the History as code and that gray bar is STILL there....
In the VM, I am not using any video acceleration, and Aero is disabled because of it. |

you could try to disable 'show tabs' in IDE environment options.
Or try to show explorer window.
never seen such before. maybe someone else did under VM?
I also do not get that you did not had this before? So what has changed ?
Did you changed video card settings? _________________ Mark |

Well this is a fresh install. I never had this issue before I dont think. I cannot recall anyways.
I upgraded my PC and did Linux with VirtualBox and that is when I noticed the issue. so it very well could be VM related. |
