Hi everybody
This is a true story even though it sounds incredible :
I discovered Basic Bascom more than 22 years ago at the hospital where I was "repaired" after a terrible motorcycle accident. I stayed there for 9 months.
Between two physio sessions, I translated the Bascom user manual for my use. Before I used Basic Stamp for my hobby.
I lost my job as a result of the accident. a friend asked me if I could modernize his laboratory equipment for biology. I set up my development company. We have sold more than 1,500 machines to date. I did not make a fortune but lived to retirement quite comfortably.
Now I build "Special clock" as Astronomic clock as hobby.... still with BASCOM
JP
your meeting with Bascom and your developments with, are surely interesting, why not tell them in a few lines ? _________________ pleasure to learn, to teach, to create |

JP,
my reason is not dramatic. In the mid 70's I started with microprocessors. Got through ASM, Fortran, Basic and the projects got to be bigger and heavier by the year.
Then in about 2005 I took a look at microcontrollers to make programing more effective.
After not liking 'PIC', Atmel seemed to be the choice.
Looking for a compiler, I ended up with the more flexible BASCOM compiler. I have a dislike about 'C'.
Right now (after getting settled in Austria) I am working on version 2 of the VTOL.
Meanwhile 7 controllers (and getting to be more) communicating and controlling everything possible in the airplane including landing. Developed all the needed boards (pitot for compensated airspeed, gravity, 18-ch servo controller, EDF-motors rpm, navigation, distance to ground and so on). Happy with BASCOM, Mark and the Forum.
I better stop writing before it is a NOVEL.
Greetings
Hubert |

Hello people, I discovered Bascom through the Griffo site in 1999 and immediately bought the BASCOM 8051 and the AVR, I really liked the development of MCS. I learned to program in 1982 with a Sinclair 1000 and to love the BASIC. Then I programmed for years in ASM of Z80 which is my second passion in programming, I developed 8 games of electronic roulette that were very successful in the gaming market and several other projects, but all development that can be done with an AVR I do it in BASCOM . I am looking forward to the launch of BASCOM ARM and I am currently developing for Raspberry Pi with XOJO (BASIC) which in my opinion is an excellent multiplatform product.
I feel very comfortable in the forum and I enjoy the comments and camaraderie of its members.
Best regards. |

As a child, I had a ZX-Spectrum 48k (Delta-C), after which there were difficult times and in the late nineties we had a computer science lesson. They taught Qbasic, I swam like a fish in water.
Years passed, the army, work, everything took time. In 2012-2014, a friend showed BascomAVR, and then decided to give it a try. I got a job in 2016, knowledge allowed me to earn money on equipment upgrades and I bought a license.
There will be an opportunity, I will definitely buy it again. The project is excellent.
Unfortunately I live in a small town, we have alcoholism all around and nobody needs anything but food and wine, so I started programming so late.
Hello everyone, my name is Eugene Mishin. In the last photo I quit smoking)))
BascomAVR allows you to realize creativity and ideas! Thanks!

Nice to read
The first bascom was bascom-DOS but it never made it to the public.
BasCom-LT was in the time of compu server, i had not about real internet at that time.
@Eugene : great you quit smoking. i quit many years ago because i wanted to be a good example for my kid. And it is great you did not resort to alcohol. Some customers are over 70 and some 80, so it is never too late to learn something. In fact i learn new things each day.
@hgrueneis and @JP : nice to read these stories. I am glad my work helped in a way i could not imagine when i started. _________________ Mark |
