|
|
HI EVERYBODY
I looking to try to recycle old cells cr2032 that are empty and to get them back to live even if it is for 1 time only
Normally seller tell that it is not possible to refill theses cells.
question : why it is not possible to refill a cr2032 lithium
i plan to use for the progect at89C2051 OR A ATTINY13
do have any suggestions or comment about this project
,thank you for help. |

They are primary cells and can not be recharged
Trying to do so may case them to burst or even catch fire
You do not want a lithium battery to do this because you can not put it out |

HI
be securised
The risk taht the CR2032 explode or take fire is NUL or even less than a 12 volt car battery |

No the risk with lithium is much higher as it will burn
the lead in the car battery will not catch fire or burn
just a risk of explosion from hydrogen same with lithium
here is a link to a document about fire risk with batteries
publikationer.extweb.sp.se/ViewDocument.aspx?RapportId=14098

HI PAUL
Thank you for this interesting link that contain usefull informations
This paper speak about the risk of fire due to hydrogen production of battery caused in severals way identified as the following:
0/ risk of thermal run away if the battery is exposed at heat at more than 70°
1/ physical abuse
2/ short circuit
3/ contact with water
4/ reverse polarity of battery
5/ contact with metal
6/ contact with acids or others chimical solution
this problem of fire is du to cell that contain wated based electrolyte .more water there is more risk of producing hydrogen is importAnt
it depend of the cell size and technologie
by the the way you can also notice that in chapter 5.1.2 at the end of page 15 IT IS WRITEN THAT AMOUNT OF GAZ IS TYPICALLY NEGLIGIBLE UNDER NORMAL OPERATION .
GOOD there is no risk of fire Under normal operation
THAT IS GOOD I JUST HAVE TO STAY UNDER NORMAL OPERATION FOR REFILL THEM AND DO NOT USE CASE 0 TO 6
I will refill only CR2032 LITHIUM 3V (WATCH OR COMPUTER CELLS)
It is also write than the main risk of fire is in the battery collection boxes ,notice that it is a risk in box where battery are normally used and buy the way empty.I conclude the the risk exist but is very smaller.
IT IS CRAZY TO NOT TRY TO REFILL A LITHIUM BATTERY BEFORE TO SEND IT FOR RECYCLING
1 / FIRST OF ALL RECHARGING A LITHIUM BATTERY COST ONLY ELECTRICITY THAT IS NEGLIGIBLE INSTEAD OF COMPLETE RECYCLING OR BUY ANOTHER ONE
2/ IF THE PROCESS OF REFILLING IS NOT A SUCCESS THE BATTETRY IS NOT REFILLED SO NO RISK OF FIRE IN THE COLLECTION BOXES
3/ IF THE BATTERY CAN BE REFILLED ONLY ONE TIME AT FULL OR 50% CAPACITY IT IS A MUST DO .BECAUSE RECYCLING COST ARE VERY EXPENSIVE
NOTICE THAT I SPEEK ABOUT LITHIUN ONLY BATERY .
THE LITHIUM POLI OR LITHIUM ION ARE VERY INSTABLE BATTERY (DANGEROUS TO USE AND REFILL LIKE INDICATED IN THE RISK OF FIRE PDF)
NOTICE ALSO THAT THE COIN BATTERY ARE SHIELDED IN A STEEL BOX THAT IS NOT THE CASE OF LITHIUM POLYMER (VERY DANGEROUS)
THANK YOU VERY MUCH PAUL FOR THIS COMPLETE INFORMATION ABOUT BATTERY
any other idee for a coin lithium CR2032 CHARGER
THANK YOU

I was thinKING to charge 4 coin cells at time for use the complete capacity of the attiny13 and planed to use 4 temperature sensors for security
after reading this document the use off temperature sensor is not usefull if the charging is slow.
before or after charging i plan to measure the internal resitor of the coin battery
does anyone got experience in measuring internal resistor of a battery
thank you. |

I wonder, if you're knowing something about the Ohm's law? _________________ For technical reasons, the signature is on the back of this message. |

HI SIX1
nice day
Yes it speeking to me the ohms law .
like there is chemical element in the battery you could not find the internal resistor only with the ohms law itself. a time duration must be applied
but with the battery you have to load it with a resistor during one second .
i don t remenber the value of the resistor for the CR2032 3V FOR THE MONENT.
if some one got it ? i take. |

Please note
"4/ reverse polarity of battery"
This is what happens when you charge a battery!

HI PAULVK
well the way for charging a coin cell cr2032 IS THE SAME METHOD that for charge a car battery you apply for a defined time a voltage that is upper than the voltage of the battery to refill
I don t know if it can be called a reverse voltage. the current flow in reverse but the voltage is not reversed. lol it is called charging .
i got some statistic about recharging a coin cells cr2032
in fact 40% of these cells can be refill from 0 voltage measured to 3.3v
in this 40%
60% ARE AT FULL CAPACITY
30% ARE AT 50% CAPACITY
10% ARE NEAREST 30% CAPACITY OF UNDER
i think that the possibility to refill the cells depend of the way they are used. if you discharge it too strongly i think you will not abble to refil them
an other way is the the quality of the batterie are not constant. don t know exactely |
