Seeing how the C8051F family is supposedly 8051 compatible, is BASCOM-8051 compatible as well?

it depends on how you define compatible.
when manufacturers mention compatible, they only consider the object code. in that aspect bascom is compatible.
some manufacturers have changed cycle times for some instructions. that will essential cause a waitms, and all other timing, to execute quicker.
