Hello and welcome to the forum,
I saw the myAVR MKII proposed as a programer but not the MKIII,
Perhaps should you ask myAVR first.

when it requires stk500, you can best chose the stk500 native driver.
or use stk500 but that one requires the stk500.exe from atmel avr studio.
So simplest would be the stk500 native driver.

Thanks for the reply, but I cant identify the chip.
It looks like something is going wrong in the communication.

In the myavr documentation for setting the board up in bascom there is a menu called chip programmer, but that is no in my bascom version.
Maybe I am setting up the commucation wrong.
Im using the mysmartusb mk3

I got it to work with myavr progTool.

Then i can burn it with that and use bascom for the programming.

Thanks.

you need to set the programmer in the proper mode. do this with the button. use short presses and long presses as explained in the manual.
then you will get good communication.
only odd thing : i tested with attiny2313 and i get a signature of 4E4E4E which is not ok. I need to look further into this.
I used the mk2 short while ago without any problem.

ok, i checked it.
first i checked myavr MK2 programmer. bascom has a special selection for that programmer which uses the 910 protocol. Just make sure to set the baud to 19200.
This one works well.

Then i checked the MK3. the best protocol to use is the stk500 protocol. But i got time outs.
I also checked the 910 mode but that does not work well.
Then i updated the firmware to the latest mySmartUSB3_V117_b1762.elf
After i selected the proper programmer using the mode button so the orange led and the green beside it light up, it worked.
But after a reset, i got time outs. After a problem even the myavrprog tool does not work anymore.
I also tried with avrdude but same problem : after a reset and using the myavrprog tool it worked, but after a reset it stopped working.
There does not seem to be any error recovery. And the programmer has no reset button.

Maybe it is a good idea to add the myavr protocol. I guess that will keep working correct.
