Hi all,
These days, more and more people want to use their Android or Linux devices instead of MS Windows. Is there any intention, to put the famous Bascom-AVR on Java, and so natively on Linux/multiplatform too?
I read the articles about using WINE, but i guess it could be a big advantage and grow faster than the strong growing Arduino-Community?
(BASCOM-AVR version : from2011 , Latest : 2.0.7.7 ) |

I am porting code to be able to run on 64 bit windows. The compiler itself might be available for different OS but the IDE has many dependencies on windows which are not simple to convert.
But the first goal is to be able to run on 64 bit as a 64 bit process. _________________ Mark |

Most Android devices I have seen cannot even program themselves - you need a PC running Windoze or Linux to do that.
How do you plan to program the target device ? Few Android devices have USB host ports to allow programming hardware attachment, and certainly no drivers.
However you can certainly run any text editor on a device, and write code with that. No nice IDE though.
I imagine it would not be very difficult to port just the Bascom compiler to an Android platform, but you still need to get the hex code into the target. I guess if you have a bootloader in the target it gets a bit easier, but its only a partial solution. _________________ Adrian Jansen

I have some good news!
I tryed some very old and also the brandnew version of BASOM together with wine under linux - so there's no "virtual box", you can just start BASCOM out of Linux (Debian in my case) and it works very well!
for programming the chip, i use the hex file that is produced in a command line together with avrdude. I have seen (but did not yet try), that avrdude is settable as programmer inside the ide too. would be even better if this works too..
OR (did not try the same) if stk500v2 uses "just" a com port (what i cannot see) - maybe its possible to use even this!
So i can stay off Windows and still use Bascom! |

please keep topics to BASCOM. WINE+BASCOM is fine. But anodroid is way off unless bascom runs on android. _________________ Mark |
