It is not uncommon (for me anyway) that sometimes when editing or adding-to a working program that a slip of the finger can insert some incorrect char during the edit. Then Compile (F7) will do the syntax check, show some error messages, and write the erroneous .bas to disk. Not good.... as that prevents one from re-loading the once-working file.
There is a "Check Syntax (Ctrl F7)" button that I *assumed* would do a syntax check, report errors, but *not* write the erroneous .bas to disk, but on my system (XP SP3. Bascom ver 2.0.7.1) Ctrl F7 and F7 do the same thing (either keyboard inputs or the buttons...same thing). Am I misunderstanding something or is something broke?
I did a Search and did not find this discussed.

Yes, I am aware of that option. However, that does not address my point that Ctlr F7 and F7 appear to do the same thing. _________________ SidK
