Found this on DX.COM then looked up documentation for it.
It can be set up via the RS232 port and be a virtual serial port on a PC here is a link to the docs

i had a bad experience with DX. I can not recommend them. i bought some hardware and paid using paypal. And then they send some email where they wanted me to send screen shots of my paypal account. And some other form had to be downloaded and filled in as well. really weird. _________________ Mark
I have had no problems but DX was not the point of this post the link is not to them I simply saw it there, it can be obtained elsewhere.
I noted in the documentation that it has a program pin so that the AVR / mcu can change settings on the unit. You can connect two AVRs via TCIP with them and the AVRs can make the changes to the modules as needed.

Gentlemen, why don't you have a look at the WIZnet modules. We use both the WIZ110SR (4 units) and the WIZ125SR (2 units). They are rugged and work to our full satisfaction.
I bought them at TME (Poland/Germany) but I'm sure there are other outlets as well.
Best regards
Ernst
Hello Ernst
Yes the wiznet modules are good units sadly here in Australia we pay up to twice as much as you would so for just hobby or learning, the $80 AU or more just to get one module is just too much I myself had to order 4 units from Wiznet to make the cost of shipping viable. I posted this module only as information/intrest so that if a person searches the forum for RS232 to TCPIP they will see it as one of the possible options.
