|
|
Hello fellow bascom users,
I recently moved bascom-8051 and Bascom-AVR to a new computer (windows-7, 64bit).
The AVR version starts oke, with just a few seconds delay.
The 8051 version however starts with almost a minute delay.
After dubbelclicking the desktop link the bascom-8051 startup logo is vissible.
There are no error codes.
When the IDE is finally visible everything seems to function oke.
I found a earlier topic regarding the same problem.
But not a real solution to the problem.
I installed the latest full version 2.0.16.0
Does anyone know how to solve my problem |

Don't know if it still is a must... Do you have a printer installed? In the beginning of Bascom it was a must to have a printer installed...
Have fun

I have no idea about the delay. Did you looked at the event viewer messages?
Is the terminal emulator working correct?
Make sure all settings that use a COM port, have an existing COM port selected.
By default windows 7 has a printer driver. The need for the printer was only so that fonts would show well. I use win7 64 bit myself. _________________ Mark |

Hi fellow bascom users,
Finally found some time again to investigate my start up problems with bascom 8051.
Because i switched from windows Xp on my old computer to a new computer running windows 7 profesional SP1 (64bits) i updated bascom 8051 to version 2.0.16.0.
My Original copy on cd-rom does not run on a window 7 computer.
After login i downloaded the latest complete version from the update site.
After unzipping and running the installer the program is installed under program files (x86).
After starting bascom from the start menu a error message appears.
'file bsc5132l.dll is missing on this computer.'
i coppied this dll it from my old computer and added it to the bascom folder.
After starting bascom from the start menu the startup screen appears but it takes almost a minute for bascom to start.
Bascom appears to run oke, al the buttons are present.
When i compile a working bascom program the compiller finds an error that is not there when i compile the same program on my old XP computer using version 2.0.14.0.
i get an error on the following line.
buzzer = voordeur or achterdeur
all three variabels are dimmed as bit
I have made several attempts to install bascom 8051.
But no success so far.
Does anybody know what i am doing wrong.

i checked the 2 problems. for the error message you can write to support to get a fix. it seems to be the result of an update in my development software. so while i fixed it, i am checking if it affects other code.
for the long delay when starting : i have no idea. the only thing i can advise : check ALL settings in options and make sure all settings have a value. if you still can not find it, write to support. i could have a look with teamviewer on your PC. maybe you have some anti virus soft that creates a sandbox or virtual environment? the windows event log could contains clues too.
it can also be the case that there is a reference to a network drive which no longer exists. When you did a clean install this does not seem likely however. _________________ Mark |

Do you have an antivirus? maybe he doesn’t like direct work with the LPT and COM port?
Have you tried changing the launch properties and assigning the file to run as system administrator or setting the compatibility mode with previous versions of the OS? |

it is not intentional. when a DEMO is released it is the same IDE as the regular one. Only the included files and compiler is different.
i did not hear about other users about this problem so it might exist in certain cases.
It is good to hear that at least the latest version has this solved. _________________ Mark |

I used to have a similar problem with Bascom-AVR version 2.0.8.5 (Win7, 64bit). Starting more than 2 min.
Now, with version 2.0.8.6 everything is OK.
I suspected the file Bascom-AVR-2085.xml in location AppData/Roaming/...etc. When I deleted it, the program started quickly, the next start, when the file existed again, it was slow again.
