Hi Rick,

I can send you a PDF with the complete RDS/RBDS-specifications from 1998 from the EIA/NAB via PM if you want to.

For configuring the default-settings to the US/Japanese settings I think it´s quite easy to find the places in the code where this can easily be changed, as you did Smile
I never thought, that the Elektor DSP-radio would have a greater application outside of the EU because Elektor-magazine is (or was) quite eurocentric.

A TQFP to DIP28-Adapter of course would be great for a more powerful controller but there will probably only very few people who are willing and capable of implementing this mod. And ATM I have very limited resources concerning my free time.

By the way the original author of the hard- and software of the Elektor DSP-radio Burkhard Kainka is starting to work on the follow-up chip of the Si4735 which can also receive DAB/DAB+, HD-radio etc.
But this is a much more complicated project (factor of 10?) concerning the hard- and software.
So there´s no guarantee that this will end up in a workable product.

Best regards

Roger

That's cool Roger, you invested enough time into your code. I am so glad you posted your code for me(others) to use.
That would be great if I can get a copy of the RDS spec, I tried to P/M you, it says N/A, so I assume you have to go into your profile and check the box to enable it.
Good news that Burkhard K. is working on the next gen of radio, sounds like it is for the European market again Smile DAB. I subscribe to Elektor, so I might see it one day. I have been to Burkhards web site, I will have to check in once and a while to see what he is up too. I also keep track of what Silicon labs is putting out their, some stuff requires NDA etc.
In the USA they are using there own home brew HD FM, IBOC. It requires a mfg to pay royalties, way beyond me. I do not believe that anyone is using it in Canada, or that we accepted it as a standard even, but we (cdn) are the dogs tail in this regard usually.
Someone gave me a Si4743 breakout pcb, to play with, it uses the same registers as Si473x, so something to try very easily.
Still working on getting a Si4770 going. Just have to spend $ on a pcb and write some more code.
Mark Albert's just introduced me to the FT800 graphics engine, so lots of ideas for a new UI to replace the old character LCD.
Cheers
Rick

Ah. It was too late in the night.
It´s .de

BTW did you also change the deemphasis-setting for FM-reception from 50µs for Europe to 75µs in North-America (and Canada?)

I tried .com, .org, = bounce back, I should have guessed .de = dah Smile
and yes I have changed de-emphasis to 75us for North America.
I will send you an email right now before I forget.

Thx again Rick
