Hi,

For the new forum Tomi has enabled ranks.
It means you get a rank depending on the number of posts you make.

On this forum i do not like to make differences bewteen users. Full version, demo, country, religion , it does not matter.

But the rank system and/or names are disputable.
The amount of topics does not need to mean that i am experienced. It only tells that i post a lot Smile
So you could say that i am helpful or have lots of questions.

Maybe you do not mind at all the ranks, at that you start with 'newbie'.
But when you progammed for 10 years in BASCOM and just subscribed to the forum, that it is a bit odd that you are a 'newbie'.

Now the simplest option for me is to turn it off. But as this is a forum for the users, i would like to hear opinions.
- leave as is
- dont' care
- different rank names (which)
- and / or ?

Hi Mark,

Go ahead and remove it.

See my case, still demo version user and already ranked as "Experience User".

Bascom AVR is a great compiler. I am still in a learning phase, next year I
will purchase one license of Bascom AVR for my personal usage.

I heard that after ten thousand posts you get a free license of Bascom AVR.
It's that true?

Best regards,

Luciano

Please remove the option.

I have seen strange things happen on the www.8052.com forum when they started ranking.

Please remove the option. The emoticons could go too.

Little feedback on the ranks. So it might not be important.
I did changed it the following way :

0 posts -> 'new member'
1 or more posts > 'member'

there are no other ranks bside 'moderator' and 'site admin'.

When you have good idea;s they are still welcome.
