Hello Davide,
at first a demoboard to play with should be available.
http://store.atmel.com/PartDetail.aspx?q=p:10500293
Then you need to check if there is a need to change anything in Bascom-AVR to be able to handle the USB functionality in USB XMEGA's.
If there is no need to change the Compiler or Environment then you can already set all necessary register with Bascom-AVR.
Examples in C can be found in the Atmel AVR Software Framework.
All other register are the same as with regular (without USB) Xmega's so changing an existing DAT file should be a way to go.

Hi MAK3,
thanks for your message, I am really new in the Xmega world but the Bascom is my favorite compiler, I got Xplained A1 few weeks ago after and few weeks later came out the news about the Xmega with integreated USB. I do not have the tools and the knoledge to look in their C example, my hope is that Bascom will help to find an easy way to access USB functionaliy like a Vittual com port soon, I wish to remove a FTDI chip from my product, In my opinion FTDI is overpriced and cost almost as a CPU. I red about LUFA but everithing is again in C so little chance to use it.
I took a look to the USb add on for the AT90USB and it seems a similar Add On could be nice. Look like the At90USB did not find a lot of interest but I think the Xmega could really make the difference reducing the overall costs.

The board is out of stock
If someone know where to get it let me know.
I already looked at USB for Xmega and the bad news is that they implemented it different then in the other USB chips, otherwise i would already have added it. But the good news is that i will support it.
It will be added to the usb add on. Integrated or as a separated version. _________________ Mark |

"Mouser Electronics has it a lot cheaper " As long as it does not cost US $50 to ship it as they do to Australia. It looks like an interesting board might get one next year.
Regards Paul. |

You are also taken for a ride by Newark...price in the US $26.30 at Newark/Element14/Farnell.
Up to now I do not think that the included LC-display is supportrd by Bascom, so you have to live with it as a Demmo in "C" or write your own lib. Unless Bascom supports it, it will be pretty useless.
In my opinion it is just an other demo that will end up in basket 13.
An alternative to the direct USB version (where you still have to constantly hack the registers) might be the usb to spi translator chip MCP2210. Hack the numbers in only once, and it only cost a bit over $2 in the US. The complete developer kit MB with breakout is available for about $30.
I do not think that it is too much of an advantage to have the MCU handle USB (if it can not do it in the background with hardware) and be busy with trivia communication when you want to do time dependant processing. The same goes for the software version of USB.This is at least the direction I prefer for my designs.
Australia historically has high shipping and import taxes.

Correction of my previous comment.
The display is a NHD-C12832A1Z-FSW-FBW-3V3 with a ST7565R controller. There is a lib-file included in Bascom for the ST7565R. edit: But display on board is with SPI, not parallel.
Until Bascon supports functions for USB chips, still registers have to be controlled.
Sorry for the wrong statement.
