There was a paste when I pressed the right mouse button on 'Text to Find:', but only Clear History comes out on 2086.

Do you need any option settings?

If necessary searching something from the text outside of the editor I think you can paste it into editor then highlight and CTRL+F

you can simply use CTRL+V to paste it to the find box.
I think what happened is this : by default the find uses a text box and it seems to default have the windows popup menu.
But when i added an option to clear the history, the old pop up is gone.
Since you can use ctrl+v or SHIFT+INS to paste text i do not see it as a big problem?
And as EDW mentioned : when you select text, and use CTRL+F, it will be copied to the find box as well.

If all this is a real problem i can of course add a paste option as well.

not use this, but i agree that copy/paste is the first thing everyone expects every where.
Keyboard shortcut SHOULD work in parallel for practical reasons,

My usage may be peculiar, but I use it when I copy a specific word from the net or memo and search for that character in the comment field.
I feel inconvenient that only this item can not be used even though copy paste can be used with right click on other windows.

The manual says to right-click on the 'Text to Find' label and select 'Clear History' from the pop-up menu, so I thought there was 'Clear History' in addition to copy and paste.
I would be happy if you could improve it.

yes but it does. i do not know if users understand the problem?
copy & paste works as always. but there is no popup menu for the find box with these options.
the reason is simple : these windows menus are coded deep inside the windows system and there is no reasonable way to alter them.
you can throw your own menu which i did for the Clear History option. but that makes the system menu disappear.

in the mean time i read a lot of threads from other coders with the same problem. i think the simplest option is to add the copy & paste options myself to the menu.
but to be clear : all the usual windows shortcuts still work.

It is an EDITOR we talk about. And the nature of an editor is that you type. or you only use a mouse? Very Happy

but no worries, i will change it for the mousers.

One question:
I am using a 14-inch monitor with HD 1080*1920 resolution. The monitor is set to 125% magnification. The picture (fonts and menu on IDE) are blurry. I can't set it to "clear" mode. It worked OK on version 2.0.8.5. Is there any resolution change in version 2.0.8.6?

In the attachment, the image is taken on a monitor with 125% magnification.

It has been a while since I posted here. Good to be back.

For those members that run Windows in a virtual machine : you need to enable the network adapter in your VM after installing 2086. It needs that in order to authenticate the files. When done, you can disable the network adapter again.
My setup is as follows: Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon, with Virtual Box from within I run Win7 pro 64b.
I use Windows just for my dear Bascom compiler. Great job again, Mark !

hi Plons

welcome back. And thank you very much ! I had a pleasant surprise today when i noticed your kind donation Very Happy
It is great that people like you exist.

yes indeed the internet must be enabled during installation.
The problem for XP will be solved in the next release. (non existing dll function call in xp)
And for those that do not have net on their XP/VM i will find a solution too.

Getting a new code sign certificate was a journey this year. you now must have a special usb token dongle.
It does not get simpler for the developer.

hello!
Yesterday I installed the newest version and read information about all the innovations in the compiler...
Mark, you did a tremendous job! I can hardly understand the amount of work that was done!

I wonder how many thousands of hours of work you and your colleagues put into this project?!
I'm impressed by this! Exclamation

good to hear you read about the changes. it can really be beneficial.
many more changes to come and indeed lots of hours go into extending with new processors , features and support.
and on top of that there is a parallel development. all need to be kept in sync.
