|
|
I have failed in attempting to send email messages using smtp provider “sendinblue” with my WizFi360.
In working "Share your working BASCOM-AVR code here" O’Family has provided example that works with smtp2go. Unfortunately, smtp2go does not accept email accounts provided by ISPs (or free services like gmail).
What follows seems pretty straightforward but I get “wrong syntax” replies. I have not been successful in getting to anybody at sendinblue that understands sending transactional emails using ESP8266 or WizFi360 devices.
The following is the important part on my code. I am interested if someone has had success with sendinblue or with another smtp provider that will accept an ISP email account.
Print "AT+CIPSTART={034}TCP{034},{034}smtp-relay.sendinblue.com{034},587"
Wait 1
Print "AT+CIPMODE=1" 'set pass through mode (transparent transmission)
Print "AT+CIPSEND" 'must in transparent mode, send data within 20ms, limit of 2048 bytes
Print "EHLO smtp-relay.sendinblue.com"
Print "AUTH LOGIN" 'start sendinblue login
Print "YWxhbmhvc2xlckBjaGFydGVyLm5ldA==" 'alanhosler@charter.net
Print "encoded password"
Print "MAIL FROM: alanhosler@charter.net"
Print "RCPT TO: alanhosler@charter.net"
Print "DATA"
Print "Test sent from WizFi360"
Print ' empty line
Print "+++" ‘also tried “.”
Wait 2
Print "QUIT"

you mean my example ?
your problem here is not devices themself's but the fact that is very difficult or impossilbe to implemend ssl in 8bit cpu
so we need a ssl-less smtp server, which in turn turns to be moredifficult every day, and most propably not exist any "free email" anymore.
So what your options ?
a) since you have adn work with smtp2go, smtp2go ONLY requires the domain of sender email to be verified,
so canregister a domain alanghosler-smtp.com and provide "from" emails (no need to exist these emails only "FROM" must exist)
b) register a domain with free-host at very low costs and use their ssl-less smtp to your clients
c) future proof solution is to set up a cheap VPS and setup your own smtp (for example hMailServer) there and use this service to your clients, this can have low yearly cost too to cover your cost .
also you create/delete/block for any reason anyuser do have pay.. _________________ Christos |

i do not know how important it is to use email but you could use telegram. you can post info. and dito for discord.
it works way faster and more flexible.
setting up a vps is simple. getting a working email server is not (in my experience). but i will check hmailserver _________________ Mark |

hmailserver is as simple as install (next / next) and configuring 1 user, thats why i suggest it
how can you post in telegram via avr ? (i.e. i mean simple interface without ssl ?) _________________ Christos |

ha i remember hmailserver now, it was used in a some course i attended long time ago. but it is windows, the server i used had linux.
about telegram : yes you are right, but the used module wiz360 is supposed to do ssl. so i see no problem there. _________________ Mark |

yes, TLS, there is always some change.
but have a look at wiznet module, maybe they offer a firmware update.
google indeed will soon (may) disable what they see as insecure app.
when even security companies are hacked, i would not make an illusion about 'safe'. but yes, better than plain text
great examples btw ! _________________ Mark |

I found this thread interesting as I have an upcoming app on this subject.
Not sure if it is ok to post links to WIZNET so I won't. I just Googled wiznet wizfi360 and it took me to their forum on the wizfi360. Two topics

No claim to be an expert on the subject at all. The Wiznet forum threads have a lot more detail but wanted to tie the telegram and google references here to the references there for others.
Not sure at this point what the final outcome is but the modules are on my desk.....
Thanks for a great read!

i have some modules too, but no time yet.
normally your browser deals with certificates. but when using a gsm modem or module like wiz360, or better said a non-browser piece of software, you need to take care of this yourself. _________________ Mark |

Thanks for all the replies. Some of them I recognize took some effort to put together.
I first tried plouf's reply but substituting sendinblue for gmail. I wanted to give sendinblue one more try. That did not work.
Then I made my own domain based email address, "alan@drummondcabin.com" through Bluehost. That was rejected by smtp2go with an "Error Code 6" response. I then contacted smpt2go and their reply was the error code does not provide them a specific reason. They stated the could not offer my an account with them and suggested I go elsewhere. This has been very frustrating.
It is only very smpt2go and gmail that I have found specific login instructions.
I may try the telegram approach but I will wait for a while.
Again; thanks to all of you. |

smtp2go need first to verify your domain with their method, which includes some tweaking only domain author can.
that means you need to own a domain, do you own drummondcabin.com ?
if you own a domain and/or interest to buy one for this purpose.
I can help you once, some time but need to contact me private, since will need to try (together ?) and need codes of the domains teamviewer or whatever _________________ Christos |

Christos: Yes I own the domain.
I seemed to have fixed my problem with not being able to login to smpt2go. I used Bluehost to setup my domain and email for that domain. I went back to look at my preferences on Bluehost and found that "Domain Privacy" had been turned on. After turning that off I was able to set up an account with smpt2go. This is all pretty much as you had suggested. Thank you.
I still need to accomplish the big final step of sending a message through smpt2go. I will check that soon. |

Today I finally had success in sending and receiving an email. Thanks to all that responded to my posting.
I had a bit of a problem in getting the CNAMEs coordinated between Bluehost and smtp2go.
In a couple of weeks I should have the software cleaned up and I will post it to the AVR working code user groups. |
