AVR128DB32 and ...64 What great chips!

I doubt Mark will give you / us a date!

It is a tremendous amount of work to add support for a new chip.
It is a tremendous amount of work to test the compiler for a new chip.

One never knows what difficulties one might encounter to slow the process down, or if other priorites will use up one's time.

Making a date / deadline, and then not meeting it, would make people complain and be unhappy.

He would, wisely, rather work on upgrades quietly, and then let use all know when something new is available.

I just want to share my AVR128DB28 prototype board. At a little over $3 US for all the parts shown, I think this is a great part for hobbyist. I hope the xtiny update will support this part by winter. No pressure (maybe just a little). I do most of my programming in winter and would like very much to use this part.

i have 2 similar boards. I started with the same chip. That is the smaller board.

The other board is using the DB64 with a ZIF.
Well good news you do not need to wait that long.

I posted this before.
It is my breakout for the AVR128DA48.
My first, only, and last ever program written in C to test the board and flash the LED.

Know that I like the DB series much better, one can use an external Xtal with them.

I, too, am glad to hear that work is progressing in this direction!

if you like to test the 2085 beta send an email to support.
this email must match the email used in register.
Also the AVRX (that is how i named it) will only work with the xtiny license.
Notice that 2085 supports the DB : 128DB64, 128DB28 and 64DB32.
remaining processors are added on customer demand.

aren't all AVRxxDBxxx the same in programing side ?
i mean as long as 128DB64 is implement all the rest are just less pins or less memory
or need more work to added thats why have not ?

wish it was that simple.
in the core, yes it is all AVR. but they have different hardware on different pins.
the pinout file use a lot of time because the way the PDF show the info. normal AVR show all functions of a pin. but for xtiny etc. you need to look in the proper column to see what is implemented for a pin.
and this is different for each package.
the DAT file contains registers and that differs form chip to chip. usually i start with the chip that has most hardware. and after that i derive all other files from that.
i also use microchip info (inc/atdf files) but they are not always right either compared to the pdf.
And then there is the CONFIG section that also need to reflect the proper hardware. you can not simply copy since hardware between processors sometimes contains different options.
the difference between xtiny,megaX and avrx DB are sometimes small but it need reading, comparing, and editing.
and then there are the updates : for some there is only preliminary datasheet and the final sheet then contains differences. simply because atmel/microchip also does copy & paste.

within a series like 128DB64 it is relatively simple to change. so once there is a DAT file for each package it is less work. to get another package done is much more work.
and then there is DA and DD series : while it seems just a letter, you can not do a simple copy, paste and edit action.

and then there is maintenance : when there is an error in one dat file, it is simple to correct in 1 or 2 files. but when you need to do that for 20 or 30 it get boring . how many times i had to change xtiny dat files just because of a new insight is countless. so you might get why there are not all dat files. of course when you do not care about the pinout, you can always edit an existing file and change some parameters to get things going.

so just "tweaking" ram/rom/pin is ok !?

you best look with windiff at the existing dat files to see what differs.
then you also know what to change.

I have re-sent an email through my work email account.

We tested this a few times in the past.
