OK, I know Bascom doesn't support the AVR __DB series.

I just wanted to show interest and support for these chips, and perhaps encourage Mark to think about how they might fit into the future Bascom line up.

I am a current Bascom license owner, and I have the Xtiny license, also.
I am a hobbist, and I am not using Bascom for commercial products.

I have an upcoming project that needs both a DAC, an op-amp, a zero crossing detector, and the ability to use an external Xtal for the clock source.

Wow, the AVR128DB32 and DB64 have all of this and more!

(The 64 has 3 op-amps, the 32 has 2 op-amps)
(The DA series can't use an external Xtal...)

The AVR___DA/DB/DC... series and the Xtiny micros have clearly replaced the older Mega's and Tiny's.

For now I'll use an Xmega32E5 and a bunch of external op-amps.

The DB series would sure be a perfect match for this project, however!

Bascom is great!
Please keep up the good work and the on going support!

I just wanted to express my interest and support for this new series of chips, also.

some weeks ago i finished mega4809 support. so the next update will support this.
originally i wanted to increase the xtiny add on each time a new platform was added.
but the megaX (we named it megaX and not Xmega !) will be added and price remains the same. this was possible because a customer/company paid for this. (to get it done earlier than planned).
This DB looks great indeed. also in DIP , at least according the pdf.
We will see Very Happy

Yes, it's a nice piece of silicon.
Just be careful when working with the ZCD, strictly follow the GO when programming or measuring with an oscilloscope. The ground connections are quite large and switching power supplies can't handle it. So separate everything including USB to avoid unpleasant surprises. Choose a larger limiting resistor even at the cost of larger offsets. Personally I prefer to solve ZCD externally with GO. You will never prevent network oscillation or lightning strikes. MPPT controllers and DC/AC inverters of a solar power plant nearby can make the grid quite out of tune.

For OZ, pay attention to the transmission characteristics. They are also quite overkill to set up.
I think Mark is going to have a lot of work implementing these circuits.

unfortunately the datasheet is wrong. it mention PDIP but nowhere to be found. The datasheet is still 'preliminary' which usually means a lot of work when they make it final. because not only the sheet changes but also the atdf files.
so for now they are only usable with some converter board.
Jay, you mentioned PDIP earlier. did you found it somewhere? Even on microchip site i can not find it for purchase or sampling.
i guess i can get a ZIF socket.

JC : thanks for the kind offer. but i am covered. found them at farnell. the tqfp64. together with a ZIF it will work out great.
and i also got a tip about mouser. they had it too but they have a high s&h fee. great site, but not when you need just a few samples.


edit : i did not even knew our mailserver had these messages. i will write you a private email.

SZTRAD: thanks for the kind offer. i used to have a good drawer too Smile. nowadays it is empty. the transition from atmel to microchip gave problems to get samples. so i simply buy when required.
tme i also know because i used to buy there too. so i ordered there. for some reason i always check farnell first. they always deliver quickly.

No problem, I know how it is from the microchip sample.
I have these circuits because they are used in on-grid inverters.
There will be a 64kB series next month. PDIP is a future product for now.

Hi Mark,

I sent another email to support @ mcselec . com on April 30, 2021.

Unfortunately, it, too, was rejected.

There were no attachments in the original one, or in the second one.

I am not sure why I've been labeled a spammer... : (

I have been working a lot of shifts lately, and have not been on my email.
I did receive two emails, and I replied back earlier today to both of them.

I don't think I have any trouble receiving your emails.
The problem seems to be that my emails to support are being blocked.
