I would even suggest a 25 to 30 Euro fee for Upgrades, because it involves a lot of work and nothing is free. This should be for business in Bascom and not for charity. Anybody who thinks otherwise should try to get the same support for free somewhere else.....go there and it will fail.
I am pi**ed off at these wanting for ever for free people.
Just my 2 cents.
Best regards Hubert

For some people that's a lot of money.
For example users in Thailand have to work 2 days for €25.
For myself is replying to this post costs already more then €25. _________________ www.evertdekker.com Bascom code vault |

If you are charged for each version upgrade, many users will be forced to continue using the version at the time of purchase.
And only some wealthy heavy users will remain.
That may lead to the decline of BASCOM.
In fact, the development environment of C language and Arduino is all free.
So I think add-on billing is the best way to go.
As I posted the other day, I think what BASCOM lovers can do is increase the number of new users! |

this is not actually a BASCOM topic.
I appreciate all ideas. But i carry the responsibility so i will decide what i think is best.
This all started as a hobby project 25 years ago.
Because i wanted to support customers better i made this a full time job.
I think the mission i once had is accomplished. And today there is plenty of other software people can use.
I understand people using free software. Most free software usually ends up unsupported but i think that in case of arduino it will last. maybe not 25 years but free software users often do not care. they jump from one thing into the other.
While there are users, bascom is maintained and supported.
At some stage i have to charge for support since this server is not running for free. And questions take time to be answered.
This project might end as a hobby project again. That will depend if customers are willing to pay for service or not.
Most customers have a small business. They are used to pay for service and support. And they dont want to share code with a public forum. and of course they earn money using bascom.
The hobby user often use the free demo. Some use that for 25 years, it is amazing. _________________ Mark |
