Hello jure_m
I have two of each on order I am thinking of making a board to plug into the Arduino's
I can then get it working with my web server code > a computer controlled radio!
Now for the power amp I have some VHF modules I think they only need 100mw to get 25watts
I do not need another VHF/UHF radio but when I build it maybe others will then be able too as well.
If we can get hams into Bascom we may get more users.

Hi Paul,
great - web controlled radio! I like it.
BTW, there is also an Arduino code for my PCB on local forum.
I also have VHF and UHF power modules, but they are a bit too powerful. What I need is one transistor amplifier to raise power from 100 mW to 1W.
With power modules I intend to make a separate 7W VHF/UHF amplifier, but that is a bit too far away in the future.

Problems with HAMs is that we are very rare. There was a golden era of HAM some 30 years ago when radios were too expensive to buy so many of us were making radios on our own. Later on when Bascom occurred this was great for us. My first HAM project with Bascom many years ago was CW filter... Unfortunately today not many HAMs are working on the true HAM spirit - DIY.

Hi Jure,
I ordered two PCB. Thank you for this great opportunity.
The only limitation I see in VHF band : no 10 Khz Step, and here in Brasil there are few frequencies with repeaters that can't be used because the limitation of this module : only accept steps of 12,5 Khz or 25 Khz.
I had prefered to buy all the kit, but the custom's tax here are very high.
I'm HAM and Citizen Band operator here in Brasil since 1978, and today I use an D-Star radio, the digital audio is great to make contacts in all world using digital repeaters.
I will make some research to see if is possible to make some implementation in this project to receive D-Star audio, or better yet, transmit digital audio too.

Hi Paulo,
thanks for your order. There are "derivatives" od DRA818 modules on the web that allow different channel step. I did try one such derivative which beside different steps offered also SMS messaging, voice scrambling... but I could not make it send correct CTCSS which meant that I could not open repeaters. There was typically bad support from manufacturer so I gave up using it.

So you're an Oldtimer HAM operator like I am
Let me know if these modules can be used for D-Star. I will be working in direction to make a micro repeater with DRA818 modules.

Hi Jure,
I buy today one CMX589, this is a Gmsk modem that is used in DSTAR.
But the audio codec is special too, is a AMBE codec, until now I can't find one module with it to buy in Ebay.
There are some special modules buit to make DSTAR Hot spots, but with a very higher price than the radio kit !!!!!
I'll looking for other solutions too.

Hi all,
just a quick follow up. From the time I wrote last update, some minor SW changes were done in cooperation with Robert PA2RDK, who wrote program to be used in the Netherlands with names of their repeaters. One update was done also by Abe JA7LGC, who's done modifications to Japan channel spacing. All progress can be followed on my blog.
