|
|
I tried the updatewizz and update to 2.0.7.9. Everytime the backup-zip is only 22 Bytes and there ist no backup and so no way to rollback an update.
(BASCOM-AVR version : 2.0.7.8 ) |

- did you enable the backup with setup of the wiz ?
- did you enter a valid location for the backup? And is it writable ?
- if there is nothing to backup (because the data is up to date) there will be no backup
- did the 2079 update succeed ? _________________ Mark |

When I use "Update" from the Bascom IDE, it leads me to the Forum site...
but not to the registration page.
Version 2079.

I assume you mean 2079. As i wrote earlier : you must use the update wiz. update from within the IDE will simply install the 2078.
The update from the menu downloads the latest official version from the server and runs the updatewiz.
If updatewiz is not installed you will get an error message.
I have no clue how it could lead you to the forum or internet?
Either the updatewiz is executed, or an error message is shown.
if you can duplicate it, let me know the exact steps, and if you have updatewiz installed in the bascom application folder.
The only thing i can think of : since a download is attempted of the wiz info file, it uses your internet connection. If that is not setup or working it might show your browser. I can not produce it. _________________ Mark |

Mark,
I used the updatewiz.exe to get 2079 and that works.
However, reproducibly, when I use "Help, Update" I always end up here in this forum.
So the link might have got wrong, who knows why.
It is not that important for me, but if Update worked without launching the File manager, it would be more convenient.
Since you can't reproduce it, it might be a problem with my installation.

If you install a new version in an existing Bascom directory then the Updatewizard will backup the old content from this directory to the zip file.
If you install a new version in a new Bascom directory then the Updatwizard will generate a empty backup zip file, because there was no content in this dir.
The zip file is named BASCOM-AVR 2.0.7.9.zip , but doesn't contain the 2079 version, but the previous installed version (2078).
I prefer to make for every Bascom version a new directory so you can always fall back to an older version if necessary. _________________ www.evertdekker.com Bascom code vault |

OK, now I understood the dialogs. It's a liitle bit tricky to understand which directory has to be selected in which dialog. |

Meister, the IDE checks if the wiz is in the bascom-avr folder. If it is, it will download a file from the server to compare with the content of your bascom folder.
If it does not find this file, it will give an error message. you can test that by renaming the updatewiz.exe
What is also possible is that you do not have a default browser. the wiz uses your browser to download the file list from the server. it should not launch a browser. I will have a look at that. it is the most probable cause.
But it is odd that the wiz which will do the same depending on the lic file you chose, does not have this effect. _________________ Mark |

Hi Mark,
updatewiz.exe is in the same folder as bascavr.exe. When I rename updatewiz I receive an error when asking for Update from the IDE.
Then, a new updatewiz.exe is loaded and installed.
But afterwards it is the same behavior: I end up in this forum.
Also not too bad:
