Hi,
did anybody connect an ATA hard disk directly to the microcontroller of an AVR-DOS system or without dos?
If so, would you please share your data?
The transfer rates on memory cards are usually nothing to brag about if you need to store lots of data in a hurry, like with imaging. Please state as many facts (and tricks) as possible, even if it does not seem relevant to you.
Approximate transfer rates would be the most important. Since 2.5 inch drives are not really expensive any more...this would be a possibility.
Did anybody come up with any other high speed solution?
Thank you in advance!

Oktober 2003 I have written some low level ATA harddisk routines.
Bascom version then 1.11.74. I understand that these routines don't work anymore because variable names and subroutine names are the same. The hardware that was used is the ata harddisk controller from www.edtp.com
Will try to get that hardware back. So I could do some testing.
