Hi,
I am using "Autover" that immediately creates a time-tagged copy of files that have been saved or changed.
So one can easily go back to an earlier version.

The program is free (but unfortunately the author appears to have disappeared for a year or so).
Anyway, the program works well (Win7 64bit in my case). There are a lot of configuration options.
I run it as a service. Occasionally it partially crashes but still works -just ignore the error message.
Without using this program I would have been lost - it saved me incredible amount of work.
For instance, if you have ruined your code at some point and you don't remember because of many changes
what had happened you go back the hex files in history and test it. Once you have arrived at a previously working
version you compare the corresponding .bas file with the current one (using Winmerge) and you see the difference.

In bascom : options, IDe, history backup.
This will create a unique file with date time stamp each time you save or compile a file.

Perhaps I misunderstood, but on your recommendation, saved only 1 bachkup that is constantly overwritten. I need to keep the same every compilation. |

That also was my experience.
Anyway, the invaluable additional advantage of Autover is that -as mentioned above- you also can save all of the the hex-file Versions, making it very easy to identify the latest working Version just by flashing one after the other.

Did you checked the 'history backup' ? That option will create a hist folder in the project folder. In this folder, it will create a file named FILE~20141125 215504.hst each time you save/compile.
So the file get an additional extension with the data and time and hst extension.

I suppose the ”History backup” option is for the next version? Can’t find it in 2.7.7.004.

I'm also find only "Auto Backup" option under Option -> Enviroment -> IDE.
