you can use readeeprom or writeeeprom.
the eram variable is not a normal variable. it only servers to read/write data with the same type.
this means that you read from eram by assigning from eram to a sram type and writing is vice versa.
dim b as byte, bE as ERAM byte
b=be ' read from eeprom
be=b 'write to eeprom
you always need to use the same data types. so both bytes, words, longs, etc.
i would store the number as a long or dword in eeprom.
