Hi,
I require one AVR-DOS as my resident DOS.
Its MMC card will be fitted inside the cabinet and will act as a storage hard-disk of my microprocessor. (xmega 256)
And the second card needs to be used from outside with a socket.
Using it , I can get files from my PC. Since PC is involved, it too must be FAT16 or 32
And I wish to copy files from external card onto the internal card.
So I will need two AVR-DOS running parallel.
Is this possible ?
Or can I read the FAT data of second card and then search the sectors for data of that file ?
Regards,

Hi,
it is not possible, to run 2 AVR-DOS in parallel.
On one side an AVR-CPU has to less SRAM, to keep information of two DOS-Systems (FAT-Table, Directories) on the other side the driver concept is only made for one drive. To address multiple Drive/Cards this would require a huge redesign of AVR-DOS and the storage-drivers. _________________ regards Josef

Please suggest.

Depending on the amount of data you want to copy you could read through config xram for xmega (there are some boards out there which already have the external memory already on it)
http://avrhelp.mcselec.com/index.html?configxram.htm
So you can copy the data to XRAM and then write it back to the new SD Card.

Thanks MAC3,
My files are around 10 k each. mostly text.
I am looking for the easy to read FAT32 manual. So that I know, which sectors to copy.
