|
|
hi, I lost my XP computer during Super Storm Sandy, so I bought a new computer
with Win 7 and installed a SIIG CyberParallel PCI card and the driver. I then set up
Bascom-AVR ver 2.0.7.6 to use the Sample Electronics programmer. I was not able to
program the chip, I tried all combinations of LPT1,LPT2 and LPT3 in Device Mgr with
278,378 and 3BC in Bascom-AVR and could not program the chip. My setup (breadboard,
ATMega16,cabling and test progam) is the same as I used with the XP computer. As I
recall with the XP computer I had to run setupio.exe but this file is not in the
Bascom folder on the Win 7 computer. I searched the form for info with no luck. What
am I doing wrong? PLEASE HELP ME - Dave
(BASCOM-AVR version : 2.0.7.6 ) |

Hi,
PCI bus cards can sit in the low IO memory range, so address 278,378 and 3BC won't work. Some drivers have a emulation function but they're not that effective.
The only thing you can try is reducing the programming speed in Bascom or Bite the bullet and purchase a USB programmer.
Regards

you need to find the address the card uses. you can find it by clicking properties in device manager of the card.
at resources you can find the address range. this is the range you need to enter in bascom.
if you can not get it to work, post some screen shots from the properties. _________________ Mark |

I/O Range EFD4-EFD7
I/O Range EFE0-EFFF

you need to enter EFD8 for LPT1.
so add the address and chose lpt1.
that should do the trick. _________________ Mark |

I set LPT1 in Port Settings and added EFD8 in LPT-address
and still will not program the chip
Is there anything else I can try? |

did you installed the io driver?
When you run setup you have the option to install the IO driver.
If you did not installed it, it will not work. _________________ Mark |

This might be a good time to say 'goodbye' to the parallel port programmer and go to USB.
You can get a USB programmer on ebay for less than $8 USD.
Search for AVR ASP or USB ISP...
The US programmer is *much* faster!!

you mean tvicport driver is functioning ok, right?
or do you mean the driver for your card?
the tvicport driver must run.
you could check the other addresses :
EFD4 and EFE0 _________________ Mark |

yes the PCI card driver was installed and Device Mgr says "This device is working properly" . I am not familar with tvicport driver at all, how do I check to see if it is running? I searched my computer for tvicport and found
c:\windows\syswow64\drivers\tvicport64.sys
c:\program files(x86)\mcs electronics\Bascom-avr\tvicport.dll
thanks for helping me solve this problem - Dave |

hi,
did you tried the other addresses?
then, chose help about and click the link App Data dir.
Explorer will open and you will see a file named bscavr.log
there is info about vicport.
best way is to close bascom, delete the file, then run bascom again and check the file.
Since i have not installed the driver/card yet i have : VICPORT NOT Started _________________ Mark |

You must run setupio.exe from you Bascom directory.
Choose as installation path the directory where you have installed bascavr.exe.
Reboot and it should work. _________________ www.evertdekker.com Bascom code vault |

I ran setupio.exe in the Bascom directory then rebooted and still can not program the chip.
I then looked in bascarv.log and it still says VICPORT Not started
Is there anything else I could try _ Dave |
