I used those chips a very long time ago. Never solved some of the problems, like unacceptable clicks at the end of the message phrase. Gave up eventually.
Next project where I needed speech output, just used an AVR, 8 bit DAC, and SD card for storage of the WAV files. Works really well. Storage could also be done using the AVR ADC for input, but we never needed that, all our messages were 'canned'.
Do a search on this forum and the Bascom AVR archive for "speech", there has been plenty of discussion. _________________ Adrian Jansen

Hi, I used them too, ten yrs ago. AFAIK they are off production since years.
I found then difficult to record, as it's done the analog way.
I recommend not to use them anymore.
But if you really like to play around a little, why not. At least it's educative.
If you're stuck in the DS, ask a clear question, I'm shure we can help you.
BTW: At this point you are a bit off topic, I gues you are going to control the chip using an AVR?
I used only pushbuttons, no logic at all. |

I have used them too some years ago. Very easy to interface. Just set up a test circuit from the datasheet if you have the chip. It will probably work if you get the connections right... And yes! its not hifi at all. |
