Hello
I have worked in a company for many years developing firmware for them.
I have always used my licenced compilator for work because they don't want buy it.
Last year I quit because of their arrogance and low salary.
Is there a way to prevent their use a firmware without having a license?
There is a way to demonstrate that firmware was developed using my licence?
Thanks
(BASCOM-AVR version : 2.0.7.6 ) |

What is a compilator, the Bascom compiler ?
The answer is: you can make a burger from a cow, but not a cow from a burger.
A compiler works only one way, the Bascom compiler of a certain version will create a typical hexfile.
In possession of the source code, one can prove that a certain hex-file results out of said source, while someone only in possession of the hex is not able to prove it.
The same it's possible to differentiate the ASM created by the compiler to handwritten human created ASM.
If the AVR is locked, it is not easy, however not completely impossible, to get the hex out of the AVR at first.
In case the company possesses the sources also, you've lost, I never saw license specific code within a disassembled hex. |

it is like painting a building with your own paint : once painted you can not ask to return it.
if you used your tool at work , that is ok and your old firm can use your firmware and/or source.
of course the moment that you leave you must un-install the software either at the office or at home. your old firm should buy a license if they want to continue development.
Remember, only 1 license should be active at the same time. _________________ Mark |

Hello
I have uninstalled the IDE of course.
Sice they have made a trick for not pay me some money, I would use a way to avoid that they use the firmware.
Of course the code is in their hand |
