Hi,
I am looking for a good chip to to the following. (I currently have it working on attiny2313a)
The controller should run as fast as it can (if possible 20Mhz) and when the controller sees a transition from LOW to HIGH on INT0, then it sets 1 of its pins high for a certain duration (in my case 10 microseconds)
I am NOT asking for help with the code, but more with the search for a good mcu so that I would not use up too much space on my pcb.
To run my attiny2313 at 20Mhz I have to use an external crystal + some capacitors and also 1 resistor between vcc and reset pin. These all take place. On my PCB I will have to place 3 or 4 of these babies and that would allready take a lot of space which is maybe not needed.
I saw that for example the attiny13v can run at 9.6Mhz on internal clock. I don't really care about the fact that this internal clock has less precision then a crystal. If it runs faster then its better for me...
So... does anyone know if there exists a controller (probably in the attiny series) which can run on an internal clock of 20Mhz without any needed extra hardware ? Or could I somehow (if it is not possible with internal hardware) share 1 clock with all my small controllers?
I did find that most of these controllers accept an external clock too, but I wonder what will produce that clock then ?
Any help would be so thankfully appreciated.
Kind regards,
Bart
PS. DIP would be for prototyping, I might go SMD too if final product needs it.

Hi,
Take a look at the ATtiny25, 45 or 85
These are available in a DIP and SMD packages have 8 pins and can run at 20Mhz
When you use an oscillator (not an crystal) you can feed his frequency to all the ATtiny's
When there are more of these "baby's" needed why don't you use one bigger uC that do all the work on his own.
