|
|
Hello,
I am looking for a TCP/UDP library with PPP for our application. I have looked around but don't seem to be able to find a software library. The Easy TCP doesn't seem to support ppp as our application is over a dial-up modem (the modem doesn't have a TCP stack in it). I would prefer not to have to install any additional hardware as we already have the ATMega128 connected to the modem via a serial link (used currently for sending the data over SMS) but we now need to send more real time streaming data so are needing a ppp/UDP link.
Thanks for any assistance.
Best Regards

No replies in 2 months? I was sure someone would have connected an Atmel chip to a modem and dialed the internet or used a GSM modem (without stack built in). The Easy TCP doesnt have ppp but I am sure there must be a library out there somewhere. I dont mind buying one. |

Wikipedia:
In networking, the Point-to-Point Protocol, or PPP, is a data link protocol commonly used to establish a direct connection between two nodes over serial cable, phone line, trunk line, cellular telephone, specialized radio links, or fiber optic links.
What exactly do you want?
A year ago I have bought the Easy TCP IP TWI and got a add-on TCP/IP library for Bascom-AVR.
In the past software has been written in Bascom-AVR for RTL8019as, ENC28J60, IMM7010A/B and Wiz810MJ.
Have fun

Hi, Thanks for the message. Yes , our board which has a ATMega128 uses one of the serial ports to connect to a slow speed modem. i need to dial up the internet to send some small strings of data so on top of needing TCP and UDP I need the ppp wrapper to connect to the remote internet modems. the Easy TCP solution uses ethernet but I dont have that facility on the modem only a serial port (dial up internet)
Think of it was been a connection via a GSM modem using dialup and the GSM having a single serial port to connect to. the modem doesnt have a TCP stack in it (No option to change this).
Thanks. |
