My webserver works fine on my router at home and establishes its IP address using ARP. I want to put the webserver on our large college network based on CISCO switches configured with virtual LANs on each floor but cannot even ping the board. There is no sign that the network has found the ip address of the board, I am using an address reserved for me by the network administrator in the same way as ip addresses are reserved for printers, PCs on our network get their IP address using DHCP. Has anyone got any network experience/knowledge that can help me sort this out?

Perhaps you could do the following test. Put your laptop/PC on the same switch as your Easy TCP/IP-board. Have the network administrator check if you are on the same VLAN and that on that part of the VLAN a DHCP-server or DHCP-helper is active. Test if you get a DHCP IP-number on your laptop/PC and if that is in the same scope as the IP-number of the Easy TCP/IP-board. If it works then continue with your laptop/laptop to the next switch.

Have you tested with a crosscable between your laptop/PC and the Easy TCP/IP-board? You have to use a crosscable.
