|

I finnaly got around to trying my Atmel AVRISP programmer (about a year old). It works with AVR Studio 4, but I can't seem to get it running with Bascom. Up to now I've been using a Futurlec bitbanger with win98. My Bascom Version is 1.11.7.3. I got the AVRISP to go completely to WinXP and get away from the parallel port. I selected AVR ISP for the programmer setup, is this the wrong programmer setting?
2nd problem, I downloaded the update wizzard, it gives me a "no product found" window. It's a legit version I bought from Dontronics. The license file is in the same directory as the wizzard. What am I missing?
Thanks |

Hi,
What do you mean with the licence file?
This is not the file you get with Bascom to activate it.
It is a .lic file you get after registering your Bascom.
Take a look at http://www.mcselec.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=189 for more information.

Ok I'm confused. I bought it in Jan 03 from Dontronics, a dll file came with the instructions that had to be installed in the same directory as the setup file. In rereading the instructions for installation, it refers to this dll, but doesn't say anything else about a license file. There is nothing in BASCOM help about registering. I can't remember of any issues since the purchase, it runs ok and I build over 2K of code. So I assume I did everything correctly. What am I missing?
Phil
p.s. There are several .lic files on my computer. Two of which are under a directory DRM, but I can't say the dates correspond. But one interesting correlation is one of them is dated exaxtly one year earlier than the email from Dontroincs, I suppose I could have had the wrong year in. |

Hi Phil,
What you are missing is the AutoUpdate Wizzard.
This program is developed later in time than the compiler so there is no info about it in the helpfile.
Go to http://www.mcselec.com/register.htm and register yourself.
You will receive (if all is OK) a licence file by email wich you must put in the same directory as the wizzard.
Run the wizzard and your Bascom AVR wil be updated.

I did do that the same night as my first post above, I haven't received any info from MCS?
Phil
p.s. I'm not really immediately concerned about the latest version, I'd really like to get my AVRISP working with BASCOM. |

Ok I got the AVRISP to work. Needed to select the STK500 extended.
Now just need to figure out the upgrade issues.

Hi,
Just wait a bit, it takes some time until you get the mail with the .lic file from Mark.
But be aware, that the latest release is 1.11.7.4, the newest 1.11.7.6 is still beta.
Best regards,
Norbert |

Hi,
Yes, as the registration entries are partial manual processed, it can take up to a week. _________________ Mark |

Hi,
Are you using the 910 programmer?
Which hardware are you using for programming?
Best regards,

Hi,
no there is no 910 programmer installed, i have only installed Atmel AVRISP via COM3. AVRISP works with AvrStudio 4 perfectly.

did you install a printer in the option/programmer/parallel/lpt adress ?
it is necessary for the STK200/300 and others ISP programmers

Hi,
Forget the printer and the parallel thing. You are using a programmer connected to the serial port.
I'm not sure but I think your AVRISP is the programmer I meant with 910. It's based on the Appnote 910 from Atmel.
Best regards,
