I copied your code, changed the device type and output port and bingo....well , not quite but as soon as I adjusted the padding values it all looked very nice.
I found I could view the f ...

Hi,
The GPS NMEA data is somewhat variable standard. By this I mean that different GPS engines output different degrees of precision so string lengths vary. e.g. the UTC time string can be 6 digits ...

Hello Ian,
File attached (I hope)
I added the LCD so I could see the values being accessed on the screen. It appears to read the table plus a bunch of random bytes (the synchronous noise) at the end ...

Hi,
I have confirmed that the programme is reading about 20-30 randon bytes after completing reading the Sine table. Sine table is 256 entries and I'm sure everything is "Dimed" correctly.
I had ...

Hello Ian,
Tried your code snippet and that certainly moves things along.
For the same constants and xtal the AVR is producing around 1700Hz compared to the Pic at 1000Hz.
Only problem now is a nas ...

Hello Ian,
Thanks for the additional information.
The lookup is slow so I will try something along the lines of your piece of code.
It's been an uphill battle changing chips and compilers and you k ...

Hi guys,
I spoke too soon. Attemps to get data from a GPS serial stream have resulted in a single output and then it stops. I feel a complete chump! I know it is reading the RMC header the first t ...

Hi guys,
I'm underway now - thanks for the prompt support.

No doubt there will be more dumb questions down the track a little way until I get used to new chips and a new compiler.

Next challeng ...

Hi All,
For several years I have been using Pics and a Basic compiler and found it quite easy but I was very impressed by Bascom and thought I just have to have a go with AVRs.

I have a Mega168 wh ...
