If that solves your problem of unstable reading - fine!
But please note that the reading does not show an exact value of what you acheive to measure, but the highest value out of a row over a time!

I edited my last post, due to the fact that I missed that naseeraks formula is not "moving".
As this is crutial, please read the edited version.

Naseeraks solution returns the arithmetic average of 16 measures, that's all.
It's integration time is as short as it takes to perform 16 a/d convertions.
We do not know how long that is, nor do ...

Your measured value varies unexpectedly.
First, I would find out why!
Maybe the values are good and load or voltage at load vary.
Maybe the current to voltage converter gives bad results for any r ...

GPS, yes, that's it if you are after a precise time and timer. GPS timing is precise enough to measure time that radio waved take to spread for a few meters.
With a simple receiver and a view to the ...

To measure a crystals deviation, the gauge must be way more precice than the crystal.
I doubt that your freqcounter is that accurate, as it's timebase is probably just another crystal.
Don't forge ...

I stll dont see your aim clearly.
Do you need to know the lenght of a sec for every single sec precicely?
Then use GPS (0ppm) or a TXCO (1ppm / 30s per year).

Do you need an RTC not deviating ...

So you need to measure the deviation of a crystal.
Here is my idea:
An average crystals deviation is about 50 parts per million (ppm).
A year contains about 31 million seconds.
This gives a devi ...

Paul, I dont really get your aim. Do you want to determin the "real" freq. of a crystal? How would you then adjust it?
Or do you aim to calibrate the int. RC oszillator?

Thank you Mark for your effort,
But my one-line workround does the job.
And doesn't the msc.lib change on updates of bascom?

Hi Mark,

thanks for your code, but I will never ever coax in the mcs.lib!

@Deanus: to dermin the lenght does not shorten the string!

The workaround is simple, but still the behavior of LEFT m ...

PostForum: BASCOM-AVR Archive   Posted: Thu Jul 03, 2014 8:38 am   Subject: Strg_var = Left(Str_var , 0) Problem
Hi,

I expect following to return an empty string:

Strg_var = "123"
Strg_var = Left(Str_var , 0)

But indeed it retutns Strg_var to be "1", just the same as

Strg_var = "123"
Strg_var = Lef ...

Just an idea, it's not tested:
Try "case 0 to 500".
500 to 0 could be interpreted as
(Bigger than 500 AND smaller than 0), which will never be true.
