Michael, you haven't connected pin5, Vo. The voltage on that pin defines the LCD operating voltage. See page 10 of your datasheet.

These LCD's have a contrast-pin as well. Did you connect that to a potentiometer ?
Post a schematic when in doubt.

I use the ILI9341 lib but that may be for a TFT from an older batch, ..... although it looks the same.

I did not have a 8MHz or 4MHz, only 3.5MHz, but I read somewhere, the frequency doesn't matter for programming.

Make sure that you have set the LPT-mode to ECP or EPP, not SPP in the BIOS.

The spike at OCRx=&H00 with Fast PWM mode, is inherent to the design. Or in other words: by design. That's the price you pay for fast PWM.
The datasheet section on the Timer mentions this.

That looks as a nice method.
I hope it also works with OpenOfficeCalc.

So far I used the CSV format. Comma Separated Values. Easy to import in any spreadsheet program.
